The incident prompted the group to retaliate and gunned down Isnani, a known carnapper yesterday neutralized a suspected carnapper in line with its stepped up drive against criminal elements in the city.
As this developed, Mayor Celso Lobregat commended the wounded Mariwa for his courageous act and encouraged him to continue on discharging his mandated duties despite the risks for the interest of Zamboanga City.
The Chief Executive visited the policeman at the hospital where the latter was rushed for treatment, to personally convey his commendations. He said the young Mariwa appears to be in high spirit despite his wounds and that the latter wants to recover swiftly so he can rejoin his group in running after criminal elements.
