ZAMBOANGA CITY,  22 June 2017 by Sheila Covarrubias—Zamboanga City will be a recipient of a P10M Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through the sponsorship of the Ang Kabuhayan Party-list.

An estimated 900 beneficiaries will be provided with free training on technical vocational (tech-voc) courses in two identified schools: Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School and the ZGI (Zamboanga Garments Industries) College of Technology, Inc.

In a letter to Mayor Beng Climaco, Ang Kabuhayan Party-list Representative Dennis Laogan said TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong has approved the request for additional allocation for the implementation of STEP in Zamboanga City. However, he said the list of beneficiaries have to be submitted before the request can be processed.

“If matters proceed accordingly, we will be able to accommodate an additional P10M worth of TESDA-STEP beneficiaries,” Laogan said.

Based on the plan, the Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School will be providing the bread and pastry production NCII program with 641 slots and cookery NCII with 269 slots. On the other hand, the TESDA-compliant TWSP programs for ZGI College of Technology include Beauty Care NCII with 223 slots; dressmaking NCII with 318 slots; Hilot (wellness massage) NCII with 227 slots and Hairdressing NCII with 223 slots.
