ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines–With 11 days more to go before Labor Day, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Ponciano M. Ligutom already announced preliminaries of the Jobapalooza 2009 in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
DOLE Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom said, Jobapalooza 2009 is a Jobs Fair event that serves as highlight of the 2009 Labor Day Celebration in the region.
Jobseekers are advised to pre-register at the Regional Office in its new address located at the QNS Building, Veterans Avenue Extension, this City for the Pre-job matching using the Phil-Jobnet installed at the Office from this date to May 1 during the actual conduct of the Jobs Fair at the Western Mindanao State University Gymnasium. There will be twenty four (26) recruitment agencies who will be participating the fair which thirteen (13) agencies are for overseas and eleven (13) from the local. 6,842 job vacancies are for overseas employment and 534 are for local employment. The Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) of the National Government Agencies will also participate
in providing emergency employment to job seekers of the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Jobapalooza 2009, a month-long activity in May, is a collaborative effort of the Local
Government Unit of Zamboanga City; Western Mindanao State University; Western Mindanao Command; STI; ABS-
CBN; GLOBE and the Zamboanga City Tripartite and Industrial Peace.
This year’s Theme is ‘Tayo Na, Trabaho Na!’
As this is the 107th Labor Day Celebration, there will also be Livelihood and “Diskwento Fair” with DTI and RTWPB as the Sponsoring Agencies; Medical Outreach Mission for the Jobseekers, OFWs and Workers and their families sponsored by the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom), LGU-ZC, and WMSU College of Nursing; and during the Culminating Activity on May 29 – is the awarding of the Search for the ZAMPEN’s Most Outstanding Employer and Employee sponsored by the Rotary Mother Club of Zamboanga City and the Regional Tripartite and Industrial Peace Council.
