CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY/14 July 2009–Some 20 students, whose names are withheld by the local health office here, all from the High School Department of Xavier University have been found positive of the novel virus, A (H1N1).

Committee Chairman Dante Pajo of the Committee on Health and Social Services admitted to media today that more than twenty high school students of the Jesuit-run institution are undergoing confined treatment, and some are now recovering.

In addition, twelve other students from the Pilgrim Christian College, another private school here, are now being suspected to have acquired the novel virus as well.  “They are now undergoing the swab test, and are being monitored by the Department of Health,” Pajo said.

Meanwhile, Digos City Health Officer Dr. Ronald Jumilla earlier announced the suspension of classes in Digos City national High School after one student has been found positive of the influenza. (MM/TPSA)
