Two suspected Army Scout Ranger abductors arrested in Sibugay

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines/20 February 2010 by Anne Montano—The joint operating elements of the Philippine National Police, Military and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two suspected perpetrators as behind the abduction of a retired Army Scout Ranger who was recently released by his captors at the boundary of RT Lim and Tungawan towns in Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) Deputy Director for Administration Senior Supt. Francisco Cristobal revealed that the duo were apprehended during a follow-up operations conducted by the PNP and  AFP in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

Cristobal identified the two suspects as Ansal Sibing and Abraham Amilhasan Ibno who were positively identified by the former kidnap victim Benjamin Almonte.  Recovered from the possesion of the suspects  one caliber 45 pistol, a caliber .38 revolver and a single motorcycle which were used as get-away vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has formally filed a case in court  for kidnapping and serious illegal detention against the two suspects.

Furthermore, Supt Cristobal also revealed that a certain Benzar Adjad alias Ugo believed to be the son of former lost command  MILF Commander Abdusalam Kiddie was reportedly wounded and sustained gunshot wound on his shoulder managed to escaped during the raid.

However, the police authorities also disclosed that the group of Waning Abdusalam is behind in the abduction of the retired Army soldier, yet would not like to confirm that the MILF is behind in the kidnapping of Benjamin Almonte.

As this developed, the two arrested soldiers are presently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-9) headquarters here in Zamboanga City. (Anne Montano)
