‘Guide’ escapes from abductors in Tawi kidnap stint

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines/02 February 2012 by Frencie Carreon–Ivan Salinas, the wildlife photographer from Davao City who acted as tour guide to the two abducted European nationals escaped about three hours ago, Languyan police said.

Languyan police confirmed reports of Salinas having escaped from the hands of his abductors, who were more intent to hold captive Ewold Horn, 52, from Holland, and Lorenzo Vinciguerre, 47, from Switzerland.  Both EU nationals were forcibly taken along with Salinas at approximately ten minutes before two o’clock yesterday afternoon.

Salinas escaped at about nine o’clock last night, and is now in the custody of the Languyan Municipal Police in Tawi-Tawi province.

Salinas has been recounting some details but as of this posting, has been advised to rest for the meantime.  (FLC/TPSA)
